I do not normally read shifter romances. I have really liked vampire romances but avoided shifter ones because the ones I read were strongly linked to mating with strangers with no previous chemistry and it felt unnatural.
Then I saw Long Distance Wolf by Rose Bak in a giveaway. The novella was in my TBR for a few months before I read it.
The best part of the story was that the female lead revolted against the "destiny thing" and this made the story different from the common shifter romances. The novella also showed that the urge to achieve something and be financially independent isn't limited to any gender. This would have been more impactful if it was a little more elaborated.
Some authors tend to extend a 50 page story to 300 pages while some do the opposite. Rose Bak has done the latter for Long Distance Wolf. It would have been interesting to read perspectives of Connie and Andy during the long distance relationship. And the heartburn during that would have made it so much better.
Overall, it was a fun read. I will probably read the next book in series and decide if the rest of the series is worth reading.
